The student council is the legislative body of the student union, and is in charge of outlining the union's policy and guide lines. The council approves the union's budget and elects the chairman of the student union. The council members participate in all tenders of the union, which include selection of the union departments' staff, cooperation with external bodies and more.
The student council consists of 33 members, representatives of all university departments.
The council members participate in various committees: academy, publicity, culture, regulations, finances, operative and student involvement. The committees are in charge of setting goals for each department of the student union, and cooperate regularly with all departments. The council assembles regularly throughout the study period. During meetings various issues are raised, from propositions related to promotion of student welfare, to the council policy on urgent matters such as student strikes.
The student council secretariat is in charge of concentrating the work of the student council and of the connection between the student council and the student union.
Every student union member is entitled to submit his or her candidacy for the elections of the student council, and every union member is entitled to vote in the elections.
Council elections take place annually, two months after studies begin. In order to submit your candidacy, please ensure you are registered to the student union and refer to the chairman of the elections committee. Bring a passport photograph, a copy of your student ID card, and your studies document. Most importantly, submit your election platform and propaganda material to the elections committee to be approved and printed.
